Mexican temperatures and cuisine right here!

 Summer is finally here!  There can be no doubt about that!  I, for one, thrive in the heat so I am truly loving this weather.  And the weather is also perfect for enjoying the outdoor life.  Our patio is the place you'll want to be this week while enjoying some of our Mexican dishes.  I'm excited to see the fried ice cream on the menu this time.  If you haven't tried it yet, you must!  Our cocktail of the week is a margarita.  If beer is your thing, try out the Dos Equis.  We have a spectacular wine menu as well.

Stuffed Grilled Jalapenos $9
Jalapeno peppers split and stuffed with cheese and salsa verde, sprinkled in bacon and grilled.  Served with sour cream

Salsa & Guac $11
Quad-coloured corn tortilla chips.  Served with house-made salsa cruda and fresh guacamole
 
Main Course

Beef Burritos $16
Local ground beef and our house-made molasses slow-cooked baked beans, sautéed with fresh peppers and authentic Mexican spices, wrapped up in a flour tortilla.  Served with sour cream and Mexican corn salad

Fish Tacos $17
A crisp taco shell stuffed with grilled shrimp escabeche, salsa, pickled red onion and cucumbers; a soft taco shell stuffed with pan-fried halibut, avocado, cilantro aioli, tomato and lettuce

Chocolate-Ancho Crème Brûlée $8
Rich dark Cacao Barry chocolate accented with spicy ancho pepper, blended and baked into a smooth creamy custard, sprinkled with sugar and caramelized

Mexican Fried Ice Cream $8 
Slow-churned vanilla ice cream rolled in cinnamon sugar and corn flakes, flash-fried and served with caramel sauce, drizzled with chocolate in a crisp tortilla coupe.

Summer's here! So is the Italian menu!

It's here!  That time of year we wait ten months for . . . summer!  And it is supposed to be a glorious weekend!  Nothing like a bit of sun to make everything all right in the world.  And there's nothing like Italian food to bring comfort to one's belly.  :-)  The weather is just perfect for enjoying your meal outside on our patio.  Or simply having a drink before going inside to eat.  It's all about the outdoor living come these temperatures.  And relaxation!  What a perfect way to pass an evening with friends and family!  Toss in a pitcher of sangria, a few beers or cocktails, a bottle of wine, and your evening is complete.  McGill's has definitely got you covered on all counts.

Sliced Roma tomatoes layered with fresh mozzarella and basil.  Drizzled with extra-virgin olive oil and a balsamic reduction

Sally's Gnocchi di Formaggio $16
Gorgonzola, Romano and Swiss cheese blended together for a very rich cheese sauce, tossed with fresh gnocchi.  Topped with grated Parmesan cheese

Main Course:

Spaghettini Bolognaise $15
Tiramisu
Fresh-made egg pasta tossed in a tomato/turkey-based meat sauce.  Topped with Parmigianino-Reggiano cheese

Marsala Pappardelle  $18
Fresh house-made pasta with sautéed mushrooms.  Finished in a rich Marsala wine cream sauce

Layers of house-made lady fingers drizzled in Amaretto liquor between rich zabaglione Marsala cream.  Topped with whipped cream and sprinkled in cocoa powder

A little taste of India!

If you guessed this week's menu is Indian, you would be correct!  The great thing about these dishes is if you prefer your meal a little hotter, a little spicier, than mild or even medium, you can ask your server to get the kitchen to kick it up a notch for you.

McGill's is fully licensed with Garrison beer on tap, bottled beer and an excellent selection of wines.  Or try a cocktail.  Just in case you are wondering, our cocktail of the week is mango Mai Tai.  Yes, please!  Our featured beer will either be Kingfisher or Raspberry Weed.  Finish off your meal with an tasty specialty coffee.

Known as "pepper water."  Exotic spices with tamarind, lemon juice, coconut milk, red lentils, vegetables and fresh cilantro

Aloo Tikki $9
Fried potato cakes with garam masala.  Served with a sweet chili sauce

Main Course:

Aloo Gobi $13 
A mildly-spiced vegetarian dish.  Slow-roasted cauliflower and potatoes simmered in a mild curry sauce.  Served with Basmati saffon-infused rice
Butter Chicken

Butter Chicken $18

Tender chicken cooked in butter with aromatic spices.  This mild chicken dish is served with pilau rice

Lamb Dhansak [Lamb, dal (lentils) and vegetable curry] $19
Lamb tenderloain sautéed with Indian spices then simmered in a sweet broth infused with butternut squash and lentils.  Served with pilau rice and hot poori bread

Dessert:

Gulab Jamun  $8
Bite size sponge cake dumplings simmered in a rich rose water and cardamom-infused syrup.  Warm, light and delicious!

Let's have a rockin' Apple Blossom Festival Cajun-style!

Seriously, could the timing be any better for Apple Blossom weekend?  McGill's is THE spot to be this weekend.  Not only is it Cajun week, which is pretty exciting on its own, but McGill's will be set up roadside during the parade on Saturday serving you tasty treats and drinks.  Yes sirrr-eeeee, it's sure to be lots of fun this week at McGill's!  Come on in, the gators are friendly!

Making its rare appearance only in months with a fifth week, the Cajun menu is always a fun treat.  If you are looking to try something different, this is the week to do it.  Oysters, crab cakes, jambalaya . . . definitely not your everyday food.  So, no excuses.  I love the spiciness of this food.  It's just fun, fun, fun!  And we all need just a little more fun in our lives, right?
