Jambalaya on the Bayou!! Who remembers that?

We have a treat in store for you this week.  It's the fifth week of this month and you know what that means.  Yup, that's it, it's Cajun week!  Woohoo!  I'm really excited as I haven't had the chance to try this food yet.  I already know what I'm having.  Are you going to be joining us?  I do hope so.  I guarantee the food will be spectacular, the atmosphere cozy and intimate making for a relaxed dining experience.  And remember you can enjoy this flavourful cuisine three nights this week - Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5.00pm until 8.00pm.  All our dishes are freshly prepared, but the wait is so worth it!

Appetizer:

Crispy Louisiana Crab Cakes
Panko breaded and topped with mango salsa, spiced tomato glaze and a cilantro-avocado emulsion

Fried Frog Legs
Jumbo frogs' legs, marinated and battered, fried golden brown and served with a chipotle lime dip

Main Course:

Ham and Sausage Jambalaya
Our own honey-chipotle glazed ham and Al's spicy sausage, simmered with tomatoes, green peppers, onions, rice and zesty Cajun spices.  Aaaiiiieeee!!!

Spicy Blackened White Fish
Market fresh white fish, dredged in a spicy blackening mixture and pan-fried in butter.  Served with Colusari red rice and brown rice blend, and a side of grilled asparagus

New Orleans Gumbo
Al's hot Italian sausage, crumbled, and mixed with fresh okra, garlic, tomatoes, brown rice, in a chicken broth with Cajun spices and chopped scallions

Dessert:

Pecan Pie
Loads of pecans, mixed with brown sugar, eggs and vanilla.  Baked in a flaky pie crust and served with crème Chantilly, and a spicy Cajun sea salt praline dust

Chocolate Bread Pudding
Soft and creamy New Orleans bread pudding, made with French baguette then kicked up with rich Cacao Barry dark chocolate and served with crème Chantilly.  A spicy meal calls for a smooth dessert and this is it!

Mmmmm, smell the curry in the air!

Mulligatawny Soup
Known as “Pepper Water.” Exotic spices with tamarind, lemon juice, coconut milk, red lentils, vegetables and fresh cilantro

Aloo tikki
Fried potato cakes with garam masala and served with a sweet chilli sauce

Main Course:

Chicken Korma
A full flavoured and mildly spiced curry with tender chicken morsels, roasted cauliflower and pilau rice

Beef Madras
Diced beef shoulder simmered in our own hot madras curry, served with pilau rice and cool raita sauce

Aloo Gobi
A vegetarian dish of curried potato and cauliflower with a blend of spices served with naan bread

Dessert:

Gulab Jamun
Spongy milk balls served in a delicate syrup

Pista Kulfi
An Indian ice cream scented with cardamom and pistachio

Welcome to the Med!

This week we're heating things up and taking you to a warm and sunny climate in the Mediterranean.  Did you know that following a Mediterranean diet may prolong your life and enable you to enjoy a high quality of life?  It's a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and olive oil, AND red wine.  I'm going with the red wine being a major contributing factor to that enjoyment. ;-)

Appetizer:

Dolmades
Short-grain rice and fresh herbs wrapped in tender grape leaves and simmered gently in a flavorful chicken broth.  Served with tzatziki

Tabbouleh
Bulgur wheat tossed with fresh tomatoes, onions, herbs and a light honey lemon dressing

Main Course:


Chicken Marrakech
Lightly braised chicken, sweet bell peppers, and garbanzo beans with an earthy Moroccan spice blend in a flavorful chicken stock.  Served over saffron and toasted almond couscous and finished with Greek yogurt


Spanakopita
Spinach, onions, and feta cheese wrapped in flaky phyllo pastry. Served with rosemary aioli and a salad of baby greens

Roasted European Sea Bass/Bream
Local, farm raised European sea bass/bream, roasted and topped with a tomato and olive salad. Served with saffron and toasted almond couscous and Chef’s select vegetables

Dessert:


Baklava
Baked layers of butter drenched phyllo pastry with spices and chopped nuts.  Then when still warm, soaked in a honey-lemon syrup


Pistachio Ice Cream
Rich pistachio crème glace served with a crisp sesame cookie

Bruschetta
Olive oil brushed Italian bread, grilled, topped with fresh tomato concasse, garlic, basil, and olive oil

Fresh Globe Artichoke
First of the spring vegetables. Fresh globe artichoke steamed until tender and served with clarified butter for dipping

Main Course

Pappardelle con fungli e crema di Marsala
Pappardelle with a mushroom, Marsala cream sauce

Veal Parmesan
Tender veal cutlet, breaded with Italian herb bread crumbs, pan-fried and topped with mozzarella, rich tomato sauce and Parmesan, then finished in the oven.  Served with polenta and select vegetables

Straw and Hay
Egg and spinach tonnarelli with our chipotle honey glazed ham, green peas and select mushrooms in a buttered cream. Topped with grated Grana Padano Parmesan

Dessert

Tiramisu
Charlotte of Tiramisu, with a rich marsala wine zabaglione, espresso drenched ladyfingers, and splashed with amaretto

Lemon Raspberry Crostata
A sweet dough flan with a layer of almond frangipane, topped by a lemon custard and fresh raspberries. With crème Chantilly on the side
