Mexico in March?


Mexican Fried Ice Cream

It's the second week in March and this week has certainly seen the levels of snow diminishing.  Could it actually be that spring is almost here?  Certainly with the longer daylight hours and temperatures rising above -40, we all seem to be more hopeful!  

The second week in any month heralds the return of the Mexican menu at McGill's.  McGill's is open three evenings a week to serve you our Mexican delights - Thursday through Saturday from 5.00pm until 8.00pm.   Always freshly prepared, our cuisine will have you coming back for more and eagerly anticipating Mexican week each time it rolls around.  Enjoy fine dining in a relaxed and intimate atmosphere.  Give us a call on (902) 681-3225 and let us reserve a table for you.  We are located at 18 Kentucky Court, New Minas. Appetizer

Mexican Black Bean Soup
Hearty and full of flavour, this soup will warm you up on these cold winter evenings with fresh herbs, jalapenos and, of course, black beans

Salsa & Guac 
Quad-coloured corn tortilla chips.  Served with house-made salsa cruda and fresh guacamole
 
Main Course

Vegetarian Tostadas 
Grilled flour tortilla with black beans, roasted tomatillo sauce, fresh guacamole, shredded lettuce and Monterey Jack cheese.  Served with a side of toasted garlic rice with lime and chillies

McGill's Beef Burritos
Local ground beef and our house-made molasses slow-cooked baked beans, sautéed with fresh peppers and authentic Mexican spices, wrapped up in a flour tortilla.  Served with sour cream and Mexican corn salad

Dessert
Chocolate-Ancho Creme Brulee

Chocolate-Ancho Crème Brûlée 
Rich dark Cacao Barry chocolate accented with spicy ancho pepper, blended and baked into a smooth creamy custard, sprinkled with sugar and caramelized

Mexican Fried Ice Cream 
Slow-churned vanilla ice cream rolled in cinnamon sugar and corn flakes, flash-fried and served with caramel sauce, drizzled with chocolate in a crisp tortilla coupe.

March - In like a lamb, out like a lion?

We have made it to March, folks!  That's a good thing!  How much more winter can there be?  And who cares if it came in like a lamb?!  It's March and we are weeks away from spring!  Time springs ahead on Sunday, there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel!  And this week at McGill's, we are featuring our Italian-themed menu. Simply delicious comfort food!  What a perfect way to pass a relaxing evening with friends and family!  Toss in a pitcher of sangria, a few beers or cocktails, a bottle of wine, and your evening is complete.  McGill's has definitely got you covered on all counts.

Grilled olive oil-brushed Italian bread, topped with fresh tomato, garlic, basil and olive oil.  Topped with Parmigianino-Reggiano cheese

Calamari alla menta $11
Fresh calamari marinated with egg yolks and cream, dredged in bread crumbs and lightly fried.  Topped with fresh lemon and mint

Feature:
 
Sally's Gnocchi di Formaggio $18
Gorgonzola, Romano and Swiss cheese blended together for a very rich cheese sauce, tossed with house-made fresh gnocchi.  Topped with grated Parmesan cheese

Main Course:

Spaghettini Bolognaise $17
Tiramisu
Fresh-made egg pasta tossed in a tomato/turkey-based meat sauce.  Topped with Parmigianino-Reggiano cheese

Turkey Cannelloni  $18
Lean ground turkey meat sautéed with fresh sage, blended with ricotta cheese, roasted red peppers and spinach, rolled in house-made pasta and baked in our own pomodoro sauce.  Topped with shredded mozzarella

Dessert:

Tiramisu $8
Lady fingers bathed in Amaretto and espresso, layered with rich Zabaglione marsala cream.  Topped with whipped cream and sprinkled in cocoa powder
